Bayside Boy x Au Clair De Lune colt
- Sire: Bayside Boy Dam: Au Clair De Lune
We are delighted to announce RaceShare’s first foal purchase - now a yearling - a colt by Bayside Boy bought by Patrick Veitch at the Tattersalls December Foal Sale for 62,000 guineas. He will be trained by Karl Burke, whom we are excited to confirm has joined our trainer roster, and he recently did a video talking about the colt - please click below to watch.
This colt is a stunning physical and has a deep pedigree to match. His dam, Au Clair de Lune, won three races on the track and is a full-sister to Eagles By Day, who was a Group 3 winner and finished fourth to Stradivarius in a Group 1. She is also a half-sister to Wholeness, who was a Listed winner and placed in a Group 1 in Japan. Au Clair de Lune’s dam Missunited was a very smart performer on the racecourse, with six wins and nine seconds, including at Group 1 level.
Our colt has one sibling of racing age, Hollywell Stream, who has run once to date, when finishing second in what Patrick rates as a strong maiden at Doncaster. She was only narrowly beaten and one of the horses in behind has already come out and franked the form with a win.
The sire Bayside Boy was a Group 1 winner at three over a mile and, as a first season sire in 2026, has his first runners starting this spring. It will be fascinating to see how he gets on at stud and he has every chance, because his two-year-olds are spread amongst 22 Group 1 winning trainers.
Since being purchased at the foal sales, our colt has been looked after by Sarah Fanning, whom many owners will know houses La Pulga during his winter breaks and has an outstanding reputation for her care of the horses in her charge. She has been exceptionally pleased with the physical progress that he has made and feels he is an outstanding yearling prospect. Apart from enjoying his time with Sarah, he has also been to the vets for a minor procedure to deal with a hernia, which we are told is of no relevance to his racing career, and Karl Burke recently paid a visit to our colt, where he was really impressed with him.
