Criminal Shore
- Sire: Kodiac Dam: Ceist Eile
Criminal Shore is a four-year-old bay gelding by Kodiac, bought for 13,000gns at the Tattersalls Horses-in-Training Sale (Lot 160) by renowned racing investor Patrick Veitch, who felt that he was a real bargain for the price paid.
He is a smashing type, a lovely, straight mover with plenty of substance to match his good looks. A proven, tough and sound horse, he looks just the type to provide regular action on the racecourse at a very affordable share price.
Criminal Shore is already in the care of David O'Meara, who is a new addition to the RaceShare training roster. He has a long standing reputation as one of the country's shrewdest handlers and we are very excited to have him on board. David would have bought Criminal Shore to stay in the yard regardless of our involvement, as he is very keen on the horse’s future prospects.
Criminal Shore made an excellent debut in the RaceShare silks on January 13, looking a real threat in the closing stages, but as the trainer predicted, just found the lack of a recent run against him. However, he showed himself in terrific heart and we have little doubt he will come on for this and be very competitive next time out. Having progressed well with his racing last year, we can be really hopeful of a great 2026 with hopefully regular racing and visits to the winner's enclosure.
Prior to purchase, he had achieved one win, three seconds and a third from 13 starts in his career, with a further four fourth places. The form of his win on handicap debut last April was franked by the second (the pair were 3.5 lengths clear of the third) as Last Shamardal went on to win at Sandown in June and is now rated 80. On his final start when second at Newcastle, Criminal Shore travelled really well into the race, but was ridden too aggressively, with the jockey going for home too soon - a view David shares with us. Criminal Shore is ultra consistent, very sound and we feel he is well-handicapped, with plenty more to come.
Whilst his current official rating of 76 means he is unlikely to head straight for the big Saturday meetings, he is a horse who we feel can go on from this mark, which is one of the key criteria of our buying team.
This is a 100 share syndicate, with 50% (50 shares) bought by a client of David’s yard - so we are syndicating half the horse. David was very keen to have the horse back and had already recommended the horse to this owner, and so by agreeing to go halves, we believe we secured him at the best possible price. The 50 shares will be on offer at £377 each, including the purchase price of the horse at £136.50 per share, plus all costs to April 30th, 2026. From that date, there will be 15 monthly payments of £48 payable by direct debit (reductions available for multiple shares - see 'cost breakdown' below for full details) until June 30th, 2027.

Recent updates
Criminal Shore and Robusto both put in cracking performances yesterday, with the former making his RaceShare debut and finishing fourth and the latter adding another runner-up medal.
Criminal Shore was first up in the 3.40pm at Newcastle and he looked a real threat entering the closing stages, but as trainer David O’Meara predicted, just found the lack of a recent run against him. However, he showed himself to be in terrific heart and we have little doubt he will come on for this and be very competitive next time out.
Robusto was second yet again with another brave performance in the 8pm at Southwell. Harry Vigors and Rob led at a fairly steady gallop, and for a moment in the straight it looked like he might be swallowed up, but he battled on gamely to be narrowly denied, while looking to be coming back strongly at the line.
He has now finished second in his last two starts over course and distance, so hopefully another win in the RaceShare silks is just around the corner.
Tonight, Buccabay aims to keep his good run of form going in the 8pm at Kempton.
