Spaceport
- Sire: U S Navy Flag Dam: Moon Empress
Our latest RaceShare100 horse is exciting dual purpose prospect Spaceport, a striking grey 5yo in training with Tom Lacey, who is very much a rising star on the jumping scene.
He was bought for 100,000 guineas (£105,000) at the Tattersalls Horses-in-Training Sale by renowned racing investor Patrick Veitch in conjunction with Anthony Bromley.
With a lovely, loose action and that unmissable dapple grey colouring, he’s the type to really catch the eye. A very athletic individual, he looks the sort to excel both on the level and over obstacles.
Spaceport's schooling was reported by trainer Tom Lacey to be "electric" and he went off a heavily-backed 11/10 shot for his hurdling debut, but unfortunately suffered a setback in the pelvic area. Now fully recovered, his comeback race at Wolverhampton was a little bit disappointing and a watching brief may be advisable before purchasing shares.
Your initial payment covers the purchase price of the horse and all costs to Febraury 28th 2026, then a monthly payment of £55 to cover all horse, training and syndicate expenses until October 31st, 2026.

Recent updates
Spaceport will be back on the racecourse tomorrow in the 4.52pm at Wolverhampton for his first run since a pelvic injury. He has not been seen on a racecourse since February last year, when making his hurdles debut as a hot favourite at Catterick. Unfortunately, that day he was injured during the race and has been out of action since.
This return to the racecourse will also be his first run on the Flat since 2024, where he had some useful handicap form. Tomorrow’s race is a 1m 4f handicap and trainer Tom Lacey feels it’s a good starting point.
Having been off the track for so long, it will be great to see him back in action and hopefully he runs a sound race and gives us something to build on.
Good luck to all owners!
Exciting RaceShare hurdles recruit, Spaceport will line up at Catterick on Tuesday in the Racing TV Club Day Maiden Hurdle (2 miles) at 3.30pm. He was bought by RaceShare’s expert buying team at the Tattersalls Horses-in-Training (the same sale as we selected our Triumph Hurdle prospect, Gibbs Island) for the RaceShare100 syndicate.
As with the latter, he was put into training with Tom Lacey and has been brought along patiently, with plenty of schooling and he recently completed two racecourse gallops in preparation for his debut over hurdles. He’s a very useful performer on the Flat- winning handicaps at Leicester and Sandown last summer- so he still has prospects in that sphere- but, for now, we are incredibly excited to see him embark on his jumps career.
Tomorrow, Marlacoo heads to Ayr for his second run of the year. He bounced right back to form after a Boxing Day blip with a good second at Sandown and we are very hopeful of a good performance.

The plan
Spaceport is back in full training with Tom Lacey.
- Spaceport has some serious Flat form last summer, winning a decent handicap at Sandown in July. Although only 4th and 8th on his last two starts (at Haydock and Newmarket), these were in hot handicaps and, on both occasions, our buying team felt that he went much too quick and had burnt himself out by the closing stages, but for which he would have put up very decent shows in both races.
- He is versatile when it comes to ground; he finished second on soft ground on his debut, ran creditably at Haydock on heavy, and boasts decent form on good to firm, so he should have little trouble with a range of jumping grounds.
- Spaceport is by US Navy Flag, a young sire who has only had one runner over hurdles so far. However his dam, Moon Empress, has already produced triple hurdle winner, Sonning (who interestingly was much inferior to Spaceport on the Flat), as well as the high class Listed-winner, Restorer.
- He is very sound and durable, having had 14 races to date, and has bags of stamina for jumping, with his Flat form mainly at 12 & 14 furlongs.
- Although initially targeted for Jump racing, it's very likely that he will running on the Flat at some point. Spaceport has competed in £175k and £200k handicaps in two of his last four outings, and it’s great to have such a talented horse who has the possibility of competing in the Flat sphere as well.
