Jumps season gearing up
RaceShare's Jumps team are well underway with their campaigns and we look set for plenty of action this winter.
RaceShare100 horse Marlacoo got the season underway with his hurdles debut in early October, where he was beaten two and a half lengths in third in what was a highly promising start having won his bumper in Ireland before we bought him. He improved for the experience with a second place at Wetherby when last seen, five lengths behind Roadlesstravelled, who gave the form a huge boost with a Grade 2 win at Haydock next time out.
Marlacoo is being targeted at a return to Wetherby on Boxing Day, one of the Jumps calendar's best racing days of the season, which we are very much looking forward to.
Golden Maverick improved on his seasonal return at Cheltenham over an insufficient trip, with a better display at Lingfield on Monday. Stepped up to an extended 2m 3f, he made his jockey Gavin Sheehan work hard to keep him interested throughout the race, but he stayed on well in the straight to finish fourth - beaten under six lengths.
His trainer, Jamie Snowden, feels there is more to come from him and feels he will improve with racing, just as we saw last season and on the Flat for previous connections.
Our other Jumps recruits - both new additions from the Tattersalls Horses-in-
Training sale - are in training with Tom Lacey and starting to learn their new trade. Spaceport is our striking grey, who is Timeform rated 94 on the Flat. He has just begun loose schooling and will be built up ahead of a possible debut in January. Gibbs Island is the other new recruit - Timeform rated 92 - and he's slightly ahead of Spaceport in terms of education as he has already begun schooling under a rider and could end up being first out on the track come the new year.
Lots to look forward to for Jumps fans and fingers crossed for plenty of success in the coming weeks and months.
