Golden Maverick landed a first win over hurdles on March 20 at Haydock, bolting up in a juvenile hurdle under Gavin Sheehan and followed up in the £30k Juvenile Hurdle Final at Musselburgh on April 5. He still has plenty of room for improvement having had just three starts over obstacles and looks a brilliant prospect for hurdles with a Timeform rating of 91 and already proven over a mile and a half on the Flat. He is a five-time winner from 15 starts on the Flat, four on turf and one on the all-weather and has proven a liking for soft ground, which is an important attribute to send a horse jumping. Golden Maverick was actually bought back at Tattersalls sales for 105,000 guineas by his owner, with us being the underbidder at 100,000 guineas.
