Introducing Our 2026 Goffs Spring Horse In-Training Purchase
He was bought at the recent Doncaster Horse-in-Training Sale for 60,000 guineas by renowned bloodstock investor, Patrick Veitch - in conjunction with agent Dan Astbury - with Patrick labelling this horse as exceptionally well-handicapped and his pick of the sale ‘by a country mile’.
Obviously, we have done particularly well with our horses-in-training purchases for Jumps from three recruits. We have had Gibbs Island, who has won two major Jump races and ran well at the Cheltenham Festival, whilst the cheaply bought Lucky Manifest won and was touched off at the Cheltenham November meeting.
Mr McLoughlan was last seen finishing sixth in the prestigious Swinton Hurdle at Haydock. On his bare form he ran very nicely, beaten 7 lengths in sixth, but he went off much too fast in front and can be marked up considerably on the performance.
The form of that race is already working out really well with the winner Moon Chime an impressive winner on the Flat last week. Eighth-placed Tellherthename, came home alone in a match at Cartmel next time, but looked set for a facile win even before Half A Chance (who has run well since) came down.
As a National Hunt bred horse, he didn’t start racing until 5, so having turned 6 in January he’s very much in the early part of his career. He looks a seriously interesting prospect for valuable handicap hurdles this winter and we certainly have the Cheltenham Festival as a target after that. Then there’s chasing to look forward to in the future.
Mr McLoughlan will be trained by Adrian Keatley, who is based in Malton, North Yorkshire and a new addition to the RaceShare roster. He is a quality up-and-coming dual purpose trainer, who operates at an excellent strike rate.
He is best known for the campaigning of Irish 1,000 Guineas winner Jet Setting back in 2016 and has had other big race success since with the likes of Symbol Of Strength (Group 3), Francisco’s Piece, Secret Hideaway, Ballymount Boy and Chairmanfourtimes (all Listed winners). But crucially, he has an outstanding record for improving horses, with Kihavah and Aisling Oscar, horses you may know well, both having improved around 40 pounds on the ratings they achieved with previous trainers.
