Yes I’m Mali posts new personal best at Thirsk and quick turnaround at Ripon today

Yes I’m Mali posted a new personal best at Thirsk last week. With some rain at the venue, we weren’t certain he would handle the ground, but he battled on gamely, as he has done many times before. He was headed inside the final furlong but soon rallied and began to press the winner, only to be bumped in the final strides. He was closing all the way to the line and looked like he may well have got there with another half a furlong.

Mali still seems to be improving and continues to repay the faith we’ve always had in him. This career-best effort could open up the opportunity to try him over seven furlongs, something we will explore with David.

Before that, Mali makes a quick turnaround at Ripon today as the short-priced favourite, despite this being his first visit to the track. The ground is soft, which is a question mark, but he has a favourite’s chance on form and given his excellent run at Thirsk last week, we’ll be hoping he can put up another decent showing.
