Yes I'm Mali gains another victory with gutsy display

Yes I'm Mali added to his Thirsk win earlier in the season at Ripon on Tuesday, which was much deserved after a series of solid efforts.

He had previously finished second in three of his last five starts, including back-to-back occasions at Newmarket in July and most recently at Thirsk. On Tuesday, he was sent off the odds-on favourite and put in another gutsy display to fend off his final challenger and prevail in good style.

He has been a joy to be involved with and there should be plenty more to look forward to for the rest of this season with him, particularly with this soft ground victory opening up more opportunities now.

Criminal Shore returned to Newcastle yesterday for a solid third place. There wasn’t enough pace in the race for him to be seen to best effect and he will turn out again quickly on Saturday evening at the same venue.

Red Mirage also heads to Newcastle on Saturday evening for his swansong before a well-deserved retirement. He has been one of the most popular horses in the RaceShare stable and, following an agonising defeat at Epsom last month, he will hopefully bow out on a high.

Wild Dahlia was not declared for Southwell today and William Haggas has a couple of options for her in the next fortnight at Epsom (September 10) or Sandown (September 16).

Robusto and Buccabay were not declared for Haydock on Friday due to the ground, so our attention turns to their next possible targets at Wolverhampton (September 7) and Salisbury (September 11) respectively.
