Wild Dahlia back in action at Hamilton
Our William Haggas-trained filly Wild Dahlia heads north to Scotland tomorrow for her second start of the season at Hamilton (5.07pm), with plenty to look forward to following her hugely encouraging seasonal debut.
Some may remember Wild Dahlia from last season, when she became the first filly to be awarded the £40,000 prize under the GBBPlus scheme following her victory at Chelmsford in October.
She had stepped up on two promising efforts to get off the mark over a mile at Chelmsford on her third start, before backing that up with a solid second at Kempton. Having shown plenty of ability and scope for further improvement, she was given a well-earned winter break.
Upon her return to work, Wild Dahlia underwent a wind operation, which appears to have made a significant difference. She returned to action at Redcar a few weeks ago and produced a hugely encouraging performance, travelling well before powering home in the closing stages.
She was closing all the way to the line and, with another half a furlong, she may well have got there. That run should have sharpened her up nicely, and with the benefit of a run under her belt, we’re looking forward to seeing her step forward again at Hamilton tomorrow.
