Sea Tempest set to make his debut next week
Sea Tempest was denied his racecourse debut today at Kelso, due to very heavy ground, but Tom Lacey will be hoping to take the wraps off him next week instead.
The four-year-old Affinisea gelding, bought from last year’s store sales, has an entry at Southwell next Wednesday and then alternatives next Saturday at Kempton and Chepstow. Most areas of the country have endured a particularly wet spell in recent weeks, so hopefully the forecast can take a turn in these areas to allow him to take his chance.
Whilst Tom believes he will go well in soft ground in the future, starting a young horse on heavy ground is a very different challenge for his first racecourse appearance. Tom is very happy with him and we can’t wait to see him on the track for the first time.
Elsewhere, we have Buccabay entered next Wednesday at Kempton, where he won back in December. He has been freshened up since his last start and he should go well again at this venue.
Looking further ahead, Lucky Manifest has an exciting target at Kelso at the end of the month in the valuable Morebattle Hurdle. He was last seen running a sound race at Plumpton when finishing third at the back end of January. If lining up, it would represent a drop in trip and, as a strong traveller, we feel that will suit him.
