Sea Tempest makes a tremendous start to his racing career
Our four-year-old Sea Tempest couldn’t have impressed more on his first outing at Southwell on Wednesday, finishing a fast-closing third in what had been touted as an extremely strong bumper. Settled by Stan Sheppard towards the rear of the field, he made steady, stealthy progress along the back straight. In the home straight, he was briefly tight for room, leaving him with a fair bit of ground to make up, but he finished strongly and would surely have won with another 50 yards.
Tom remarked that this is the happiest he’s ever been to finish third, and we are all now eagerly anticipating what Sea Tempest’s future might hold. With hurdles and fences ahead, there is every reason to believe he has a very bright future.
For now, he’ll be pointed towards another National Hunt Flat race, where he must have very strong chances with this hugely beneficial experience under his belt.
