Scampi declared for Racing League finale!

Scampi's latest assignment is set to be the Racing League finale at Southwell on Wednesday evening, as he has been declared in a competitive field of 12 runners.

The Racing League has added competitive racing and great prize money to the Flat racing calendar and Scampi will be looking for a piece of the £100k fund on offer in this week's fixture.

Scampi was last seen running in the £500k Ebor, the most prestigious middle distance handicap of the season, where he finished tenth. His finishing position doesn't tell the full story, because he was beaten only four and a half lengths and was the last horse off the bridle. He travelled supremely well into the race and it looked like he might go on and win, but the doubt over whether his stamina would last the longer trip of 1m 6f came to fruition, the tank emptied late on and his effort petered out.

This was a hugely positive effort, however, and we go to Southwell on Wednesday with the hope that there is more to come back over a mile and a half.
