Robusto wins impressively on turf

One of RaceShare’s most popular horses, Robusto, got his head in front for the first time on turf at Leicester last Sunday.

Having been a winner on the all-weather twice in RaceShare silks - and given his split rating (higher on artificial surfaces) - it was great to see him put in his best effort yet on the turf at Chester a month ago. Sent off at 17/2, he stayed on really well in the home straight there to finish a close third, beaten only half a length - and he might have won with an extra half a furlong.

We were therefore very hopeful he would go a couple better at Leicester off an unchanged mark and he did that on no uncertain terms, pulling clear of his rivals in the closing stages to win comfortably. Harry Vigors, a talented young apprentice who rode him to victory at Wolverhampton in April, was on board - proving it to be a successful partnership once again.

Robusto may reappear quickly at Chepstow on Tuesday and hopefully there is plenty more to come from him.
