Our first RaceShare100 jumps horse, Marlacoo made his debut at Warwick last Thursday in a 2-mile novice hurdle. Trainer Tom Lacey had been very happy with his schooling but felt he would improve for a racecourse outing.

The hot favourite was the 120-rated Captain Marvellous, who was sent straight into the lead, with Stan Sheppard electing to sit in a close second on Marlacoo. Despite a couple of novicey jumps, our lad loomed up to challenge on the home turn and battled all the way to line to be beaten a couple of lengths in third behind the favourite.

As winner of a Down Royal bumper on his only previous start, it was always likely that he could find two miles over hurdles at Warwick to be on the sharp side, and both trainer and jockey thought that had been the case after the race. Nonetheless, it was an exciting debut for RaceShare and Tom will now look for another novice in a few weeks, possibly on a more galloping track.

RaceShare owner, Ken Hawkins captured some wonderful footage of the day, which we hope you’ll enjoy!
