Golden Maverick is back in action

It’s the final day of Cartmel’s May Bank Holiday meeting, and Golden Maverick is back in action in Division II of the Traffic Management Handicap Hurdle (7:10pm) after a short break- his comeback delayed by an unusually dry spring that left the ground too firm for his liking.

Cartmel is arguably the most charmingly eccentric racecourse in the UK. With its funfair, BBQs, minimal permanent buildings, and a famously dog-friendly vibe, it’s a day out like no other- and Golden Maverick’s owners are in for a treat, win or lose.

Back in the visor he wore when storming to victory at Carlisle, he’ll be hoping to channel that same spark this evening. If he takes to Cartmel’s twists and turns, there’s every chance he could produce a bold late-season run!
