Fantastic start to our autumn stable visits!
Over the past few weeks, RaceShare has experienced a bustling period of stable visits - kicking off with La Pulga last Wednesday!
Over 70 of his owners were present at Charlie Johnston’s impressive Kingsley Park Stables to see their recent Thirsk winner strut his stuff on the gallop in Middleham. The sun was shining as Charlie and Team RaceShare’s Ross Brierley hosted a Q&A session - answering everyone’s burning questions! We saw La Pulga on the gallops, where his rider wore our GoPro for some brilliant footage you can find on our social media, and we all had time to take photos of him at close quarters, which is always the highlight for many owners. The day was rounded off with lunch at the nearby Saddle Room - where over 20 owners caught up about the great day, and what was in store for them next as RaceShare owners!
Friday was the turn of Robusto owners at Eve Johnson Houghton’s idyllic Oxfordshire base - Woodway Stables. We were joined by an enthusiastic group of owners, who had all come to see Rob before he headed for his winter break. Four days earlier, he ran his last race of the season at Kempton, so it was cool for all his owners to see him in such good condition at the end of a campaign which yielded a win at that track in July, plus placed efforts at Southwell and Lingfield. He paraded for owners at the yard for photos with Eve, after we had been up to the stunning gallops, looking over the beautiful countryside, to watch two canters from one of her lots. The horses exercising included the legend, Accidental Agent, a Group 1 winner who is now ten and Betty Clover, a two-year-old Listed winner and second in a Group 3. We also saw stable star Jumby, the useful [Great Acclaim](Great Acclaim), and a couple of Eve’s runners just before they headed to Newbury that afternoon. She had a winner and three thirds out of five runners there, and her sole runner up at Ayr came second in a Listed race, so it was a good afternoon for the yard - and of course a lovely morning enjoyed by RaceShare owners! A handful of owners joined us afterwards for lunch at the Red Lion in Blewbury, which was a great way to end the morning at the yard.
The following day, our autumn stable visits continued at Jamie Snowden’s Folly House in Lambourn to see Golden Maverick with over 70 of his owners gathering to tour the yard and hear Jamie’s thoughts on Mav- and some of his other stable stars- as the Jumps season starts to move into gear. Our boy has been back in training for three weeks now- having had a lovely summer holiday with Claire Hart in Gloucestershire- and, as our trainer pointed out, he thrived for the break and still has a fair amount of condition to lose before he’ll be ready to run! So, we are probably looking at November for Mav to make his return, as he looks to build on his excellent debut season for RaceShare, which culminated in victory in a Class 2 at Ayr. His owners would have been very encouraged to hear that Jamie is confident there is improvement to come from Mav, particularly as he’s only raced at two miles so far and looks certain to stay further. We escaped the worst of the weather until a very sharp thunderstorm at the very end, which encouraged quite a few of his owners to take shelter in the Queen’s Arms for a very enjoyable post-visit lunch!
We film the entirety of our stable visits, as the eyes and ears for all owners who are unable to attend, so all owners will receive the feature length recording in their Friday updates this week!
