Cheltenham Festival week is here - Gibbs Island runs on Friday
The countdown is on! Gibbs Island is ready to become RaceShare’s first runner at the Cheltenham Festival in this Friday’s Triumph Hurdle, the opening race of Cheltenham Gold Cup day 2025.
Excitement levels are building for Gibbs Island’s many owners, the RaceShare team and trainer Tom Lacey. These are intense days, especially for Tom and his hard-working team as hours of work, love and attention have gone into fine-tuning the horse for his biggest challenge to date.
Breaths will be held every morning between now and Friday as Tom checks RaceShare’s hurdling hero to ensure that he’s A1. Now, all anybody wants is to get Gibbs Island to Cheltenham and allow him his opportunity on the big stage.
Gibbs Island has quickly showcased his natural ability over hurdles, transferring his talent from the Flat, with two wins from two runs - the second of these in what has long been a Triumph Hurdle trial, the Victor Ludorum Juvenile Hurdle at Haydock Park. He was hugely impressive that day, earning an OR of 134 which puts him right in the mix for Cheltenham.
The excitement is that we are only just seeing what Gibbs Island can do and, like many of the runners in the Triumph Hurdle, he’s expected to improve again from his latest run. In a hotly-contested race, with high profile runners from the UK and Ireland, Gibbs Island goes there in the form of his life.
You still have time to become an owner in Gibbs Island by purchasing a share for £190 here.
