Bumper weekend ahead
Robusto heads for the 3.18pm at Wolverhampton tomorrow afternoon. His latest run can be forgiven, as the early pace proved far too strong to be sustainable. With a more tactful ride, he can return to his usual consistent form.
Gibbs Island lines up in the £100,000 Scottish Champion Hurdle at Ayr on Saturday. After a strong finishing effort in the County Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival, he heads there in great form and we’re hopeful of another big run in top handicap company.
Joining him at Ayr is our highly promising four-year-old Sea Tempest, who runs in the concluding bumper. He was still learning on debut at Southwell in February when finishing third in a strong race but showed plenty of raw ability. With that experience under his belt, we’re hoping he can take a step forward.
Yes I’m Mali makes his second RaceShare start at Thirsk (2.47pm) on Saturday. He found the soft ground at Doncaster on the opening weekend of the Flat season hard going, but if he comes on for the run and appreciates a sounder surface, he should be capable of getting into the mix.
After a good third at Wolverhampton last time out, The Lost Sock (4.30pm) returns to the turf on the same card at Thirsk for his Racing TV owners. If he can settle and race professionally as he did last time, he should be in for another good run.
Criminal Shore drops back in trip to 7f at Newcastle on Monday. He has been a very consistent performer in the RaceShare silks so far, and if the drop in distance helps him find a bit more, he should be thereabouts again.
Also on Monday, Spaceport heads to Lingfield for a try over 1m2f. He showed promise last time over slightly shorter and will have taken a step forward from that run, so can hopefully get a bit closer to the action this time.
Unbeaten in two starts so far in 2026, Breathe Easy steps up in grade for the Esher Cup at Sandown next Friday. A big, scopey horse who has taken time to mature, he looks to have a very bright three-year-old season ahead.
