Buccabay returns to the racecourse with a bang
Buccabay made a triumphant seasonal return on Monday, clinching the Fitzdares Sprint Series Handicap at Windsor- his first win in the RaceShare silks. Our five‑year‑old didn’t have an ideal draw but led from two furlongs out and held on courageously under Marco Ghiani to win by half a length.
The victory was made all the more memorable by the sight of more than 20 enthusiastic Buccabay owners crowded in the winners’ enclosure, cheering him home and celebrating with a glass of champagne.
He has several options for his next outing, with a tentative mention of the Wokingham at Royal Ascot- should his handicap mark rise sufficiently. Now rated a career-high, he looks every inch a progressive sprinter based on Monday’s performance, and his owners have plenty to be excited about as the 2025 season unfolds.
