A Christmas gift with a lasting legacy?
There is only 3% left in RaceShare’s very smartly bred Space Blues yearling filly, in training with Ed Bethell, who’s very happy with her progress so far.
The filly is out of the mare Silver Moon, who is from what is becoming an illustrious and highly-valuable Godolphin family. She herself was out of the mare Minidress, who has now bred two Group 1 winners, Rebel’s Romance and Measured Time and the highly rated Petticoat, from only four offspring to have raced. Martin Stevens of the Racing Post wrote this interview with the owner of Silver Moon, and it gives a great insight into the pedigree.
Silver Moon has started her stud career in good style, with two runners of racing age both being winners, from stallions that the RaceShare team believe didn’t give her the best chance to produce a star. Space Blues, the sire of our filly, was a high-class sprinter-miler and a triple Group 1 winner, and his first season of runners this year has already produced a Group 1 juvenile winner in Power Blue.
The fact that this Space Blues yearling is a filly, means she could be another strand of this burgeoning high-class bloodline. Whatever she does on the racecourse, she would likely have considerable value herself as a broodmare.
Anyone who buys into the remaining 3% still has a chance to name the filly, as each owner can submit a name, with the RaceShare team then compiling a shortlist which will then go to a vote.
