In mid-August, Scampi landed his second win of the season at the Shergar Cup running to a Timeform rating of 103, reversing the form with the horse that beat him at Haydock just over a month prior. He has really captured the imagination of the general racing public and the eruption from the crowd when he was called the winner in the photo finish ‘exceeded any heard at this year’s royal meeting’ according to Lee Mottershead of the Racing Post.
